This breaking news will definitely come as a big surprise to movie buffs, especially the teeming fans of leading actress and Nollywood’s poster girl, Genevieve Nnaji.
In fact, the shocking revelation is a big blow to the very private and heavily guarded life of the 33 year old Mbaise, Imo State-born screen diva and single mother of one, who has managed to keep her private life out of public domain .

A colleague and insider recently disclosed that Miss Nnaji, smokes, mostly on locations.
Narrating a personal encounter with the actress in a sequential excerpts of his soon to be released book entitled, Nollywood till November, ace director, Charles Novia shared how the thespian admitted to calming her nerves with smoking of cigarettes.
In the words of Novia, “I remember on the third day of recording, one night while shooting at a clinic in Victoria Garden City Extension, I came out for a bit of fresh air while the technical crew were setting up for the next scene.

I saw Genevieve in a dark corner of the building smoking a cigarette,” he revealed.
Novia in the book, also recounts a conversation that ensued between them that night.
“Whoops! You caught me,” she said laughing. “You smoke?” I asked a bit surprised. “Now and then. It relaxes me,” she said and asked, “Do you smoke?” I replied, “Never have, never will. But I don’t have any problem with people who smoke though. But health wise, I hope you stop soon,” I replied.

“I am trying to. Sit with me a bit let’s talk about this scene,’ she said. I sat with her and I explained some few things to her about the scene. We also talked about a bit of her stardom and how she was coping with it. She was in a chatty mood and it was a revealing conversation,” Novia added.
With the above conversation, Nigerians now know that their darling actress also smokes, but not in public.
But what no one can ascertain is whether Miss Nnaji still smokes or has finally dumped the habit based on her doctor’s advice.

Meanwhile, several weeks ago, controversy courting actress, Tonto Dikeh was in the news for openly admitting via her handle on twitter.com that she had quit smoking. The Ikwerre, Rivers State-born actress disclosed that she overcame her addition after watching a TV programme by Pastor T.B Joshua of The Synagogue Church of All Nations.

“I didn’t quit smoking by myself. I was watching a programme on TV with Prophet T.B. Joshua and he was laying hands on people and praying for them. I love to watch his programmes,” Tonto Dikeh revealed.
Only last week, Novia released the first excerpt of his book and recalled a confrontation he had with screen idol, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. It is still unclear when Nollywood till November, will hit the shelves however, more excerpts are still being expected from the yet-to-be-released book.
