It was a pale Funke Akindele who surfaced in New York, US, for the Nigerian Entertainment Award (NEA) on Sunday in a mono-strap gown that revealed the faintest features of a bulging tummy.
Since then the rumour mill has been agog with the news that the actress is expecting a baby.
Sources at the NEA show insisted that Akindele’s body language and general outlook revealed early features of pregnancy period otherwise known as the first trimester.
“I am very happy for Funke. There is no way anyone will have a closer look at her that night and not see the early signs of pregnancy even though she tried to hide it with make-up and her outfit,” revealed one of the guests at the occasion.
Akindele, the star of blockbuster Jenifa, was the co-host of NEA alongside comedian, Ayo Makun otherwise known as AY, which held at The Sharp Theatre, Symphony Space, US. Aside playing the role of a co-host,  Akindele was also one of the honourees at the glamorous event as she picked up the award of Best Actress for her role in the box office hit, The Return of Jenifa (TROJ).
The actress tied the knots with her business man cum Politian lover of many years, Almaroof Oloyede at a well-celebrated three days jamboree in May 2012, with the reception at The Haven Events Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. 

However, since her nuptials, the AMAA winning actress has cut down on her public appearance to concentrate on her new role as a wife. Funke Akindele and hubby Almaroof Oloyede had proceeded to London, UK, where they spent several weeks of their early days as a couple on a short honeymoon.
With a wave of the hand, publicists to the actress described the news as a rumour. “I think it is presumptuous of anybody to make that assumption” declared the actress’ image-makers.
