How Funke Akindele found love .Why she fell for Kehinde Oloyede
It came like a bolt from the blue as many did not see it coming. Shock
and surprise have continued to greet the news that star actress, Funke
Akindele popularly known as Jenifa is finally set to drop her toga as
one of the most celebrated spinsters in Nollywood.
Tinsel town may be set to witness one of the most elaborate wedding ceremonies of the year as the star actress finally ties the knot with her lover of many years, Kehinde Oloyede Alamaroof, in a traditional marriage ceremony fixed for Saturday, May 26.
Interestingly, the actress’ marriage comes only weeks apart from earth-shaking wedding ceremonies by two other famous Nollywood actors, Stephanie Okereke and Chidi Mokeme who tied the knots with their sweethearts.
Although, details of the wedding such as venue, time and colours are strictly a closely guarded secret among family members however, EE learnt that the ceremony which will take place in Lagos at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue will definitely be an elaborate one.
According to insiders, a long list of high-calibre guests is already being drawn as both families are influential and have friends and loved ones in both social circuits and government circles.
In fact, it was gathered that a mad rush had already begun for the official fabric and head gear material (Aso Ebi).
The romantic affair between the lovebirds that has been painstakingly kept away from the prying eyes of the public is finally set for the altar.
EE authoritatively gathered from insiders that the two had become an item as far back as 2007 but the romance did not amount to much as both lovers later walked away for unknown reasons. However, a very reliable source revealed that the cause of the separation may not be unconnected with the pressure by the love-struck businessman cum politician to get married to the actress then. Apparently, this did not go down well with the actress hence her reluctance to continue with the relationship.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that less than a year ago both lovers who had remained friends ever since rekindled their romance and has never looked back. Insiders also disclosed that an elaborate white-wedding is being planned later in the year.
EE also gathered authoritatively that the man who captured the heart of the actress is a father of two children from his first wife. Multiple sources confirmed to EE that the hardworking socialite was not legally married to the mother of his two children. According to insiders, the relationship while it lasted was not formalised but it is also not clear if the couple are now separated.
With her marriage scheduled for a few weeks time, Funke Akindele will now join the list Nollywood actresses who are married to ‘married men’ or men with love children. Some of the actresses who have toed a similar path include Mercy Johnson, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry and Oby Edozieh among others.
But this won’t be an issue with the actress. “Funke’s lover has been well accepted by her family and everybody is very excited about their union. The family is solidly behind her and equally, all hands are on deck to make sure that her day of joy will be a memorable one,” revealed our source.
In spite of her unprecedented rise and success in the movie industry, it would seem that true love had become an elusive item for the widely-acclaimed actress. EE learnt that this had become a source of concern for close family members and friends of the actress but in a frank interview with EE last year, the actress shrugged off family pressures over her marital status.
Her words, “I have a wonderful mother that prays and encourages me. She admonishes me not to go after money but true love. People who know me closely would tell you that I don’t have airs at all. Of course, I want to get married to somebody that I love and who understands me; who loves me for whom I am.”
Asked about plans to begin a home, the energetic actress did not mince words. “Once I start my home, I hope to cut down on acting so that I can give my family more attention,” she told EE.

Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof who is currently in his late 30s is a young businessman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenny Doo Investments with primary interests in the very lucrative property and real estate sectors. EE gathered that some of his investments in property are spread around Oshodi area of Lagos where he spent a large part of his life.
Kenny Doo as he is popularly known may yet to achieve much success as a Politian, but he is undeterred in his pursuit having twice contested for the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The hardworking business man is the son of a popular Women Market Leader in Oshodi otherwise known as Iyaloja of Oshodi.
